About this Recipe
A traditional South African dish with spiced minced meat and an egg custard topping.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef or lamb
2 onions, chopped
2 slices bread, soaked in milk
2 tbsp curry powder
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp ground coriander
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup chutney
2 eggs
1 cup milk
2 bay leaves
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Sautรฉ onions until soft
2. Add meat and brown thoroughly
3. Add spices, raisins, and chutney
4. Squeeze bread and add to mixture
5. Transfer to baking dish
6. Beat eggs with milk and pour over meat
7. Add bay leaves on top
8. Bake at 350ยฐF for 30 minutes until custard is set
